Strangely enough, that's what they used to say when Republicans won an election. Then, the Republicans learned that it's much cheaper to just steal them! Okay, okay, just a little tongue-in-cheek humor, folks!
Actually, the cynical side of me wants to say elections are for appeasing the public, only. I could believe that it's all choreographed and orchestrated, with the public just thinking the campaigns and their votes make any difference. But, let's not go there, for now.
Now that the election is over, it's time for us to come together, as one people. Although I'm not happy with our choice, I believe we must be united and willing to provide our support, as long as this president operates within the guidelines of the Constitution. We need to show no weakness to the parts of the world that would be anxious to take advantage of such weaknesses. So, let's suck it up and get on with getting this country back on track!
With the above being said, it does not mean that we are to turn a blind eye to this new president or give Congress a blank check. No, indeed! We need to hold our politicians responsible for their actions and we need to be willing to accept responsibility for our own!
